MOTORWAY LESSONS

Despite the speeds involved in driving on motorways, these roads are relatively safe ways to get around. But when accidents do occur they can be serious.

Often, accidents can be avoided by a skilful driver knowing how to read situations and react to other motorway drivers, as well as how to handle their own vehicle correctly.

motorway lessonsSince learner drivers are not permitted to drive on motorways, newly qualified drivers will have no experience of them. To learn how to deal with motorway rules and rapidly developing situations - which are often unique to motorways - it is well worth booking some specific motorway lessons to develop your skills further. This can be extremely useful whether you are a new driver or would simply like to build up your competence.

Lessons cover all aspects of motorway driving, including:

  • planning journeys
  • joining and leaving motorways; using slip roads
  • safe speeds under different circumstances
  • effective observation around your vehicle
  • signs, signals and markings
  • overtaking and lane discipline
  • courtesy to other road users
  • motorway fatigue
  • breakdown procedures
  • use of lights, including hazard warning lights
  • debris on the carriageway
  • crosswinds
