Burley School of Motoring’s carefully-tailored instructor courses are structured to accommodate your individual needs – while thoroughly covering all skills necessary to become a competent instructor.
Our professional trainers will guide you through your learning, helping you to overcome common pitfalls and become a safe and effective teacher. And, even after you qualify, you’ll be able to benefit from our guidance as you set up your new business.
Most of our flexible courses are part time and undertaken in regular, short lessons to increase effectiveness. Our aim is to foster frequent contact with your trainer. This ensures high motivation levels while allowing time for practice and study in between lessons.
A Typical Course
Part 1
You will need to complete a Home Study course, covering theories of driving and teaching.
To help you, we offer a Home Study pack containing DSA recommended books and the Burley School of Motoring Study Guide and Question Book.
Your trainer will be able to help with advice on the best route to successfully completing this part of the programme.
There are also four practical training sessions in Part One: three will be in-car; the other covers the hazard perception test.
Part 2
A total of six driving sessions are offered to prepare you for the Part Two driving test. A manual is provided.
Before your test itself, you will be given an hour’s warm up drive.
Part 3
Part Three includes 20 two-hour individual lessons, offered alongside two instruction manuals, to prepare you for your final test.
Top-up Training
Burley School of Motoring offers further training for part two and three candidates who haven’t satisfactorily completed their course elsewhere.
We can put you on track for successful completion of your ADI studies – whether you haven’t finished your training because of inadequate instruction from other organisations, or through interrupted learning schedules.
Part two training
If you have failed the Part 2 test already, or haven’t gathered the confidence to take it, we can help prepare you for passing your examination.
Let a Burley School of Motoring tutor assess your current skills. Together with you we can develop a personalised plan to help you gain the confidence and ability to pass with flying colours.
Part three training
Part three is arguably the hardest part of your ADI training.
At the Burley School of Motoring, we excel in preparing you thoroughly for this test of your instructor skills and we are adept in giving you a solid grounding in the many, complex techniques you must acquire.
Following an assessment with the Burley School of Motoring, where your current abilities will be noted, we’ll tell you specifically and practically what you need to do to prepare for successfully completing Part Three. And then we will help you do it.
Check Test Training
As a fully qualified ADI you will be required, when asked, to attend a check test. This is a necessary part of your ongoing ADI qualification and a regular part of your professional life.
Burley School of Motoring trainers are skilled at guiding you through, whether you have recently failed a check test or simply need an input from someone with solid experience of the test.
We offer an assessment of your instructional ability on a normal driving lesson, with immediate feedback in a written report. If there are areas of weakness to be addressed, we provide the following, as required:
- role-play to refine your skills; as well as role-play checktests
- focus on core competencies, the checktest form and what the examiner is looking for
- What kind of pupil to choose and how to structure the checktest lesson.
In short, we offer assistance at every level and stage of your training. Contact us now for further information on your area of interest.
